Ok have a 15 ft bat wing been using it fine for awhile and everything worked fine. Hooked her up the other day after a few months of not shredding and the PTO engages and then the light blinks and PTO shuts down.

I am up to the required RPM's and I am no leaving my seat. It works for about 10 to 15 seconds and then just shuts down.

Any ideas.

Thanks in advance.

Does the light blink in a particular pattern? Is there a troubleshooting section in the manual? It sounds like it is identifying an error 'condition'. Is the bat-wing properly lubricated? Is there something creating resistance on the bat-wing gear box? Perhaps the PTO is identifying too much resistance and shutting down. Have you engaged the PTO with no implement connected?

Yes check all fluids in gear boxes. No haven't tried it without the batwing but will.

Hydro fluid is good in tractor as well.

Blinking is steady flash. Book says run up to rpm in first 20 seconds we are doing that and also don't get out of the seat.

I am going to check the safety switch, wiring, in the seat to see maybe it it has been cut or messed up.

It might be the PTO speed sensor failed. IIRC the ground speed sensor is the same P/N. You could swap them. If the PTO works and tractor dash not longer shows ground speed it was the sensor.

I will try that. I didn't not look at the ground speed guage the other day.

Definitely check the speed sensor. Make sure wire is connected securely. Another possible problem is the solenoid. The solenoid coil is the same as the differential lock and mfwd, so you can swap them to see if it works.

Ok the ground MPH is working.

My father in law got in it the other day and it just worked after doing nothing which tells me we have a loose wire or short somewhere. Then got in it the next day and it didn't work. I went yesterday to look at it and it didn't work at first. I then went down and jiggled this connection and moved and separated the wires some and I shredded for two hours. I am hoping that is all it is.

I need to go back now and replace that connector because it is loose and check the wires for any bare spots. DA820015-E0AA-4845-BECB-740D1584F6D5.jpeg

That's the PTO speed sensor. I think that's Delphi connector. You can buy just the terminals to crimp on the wires. The terminals use a special crimper to "curl/crimp" the terminal ends on to the wire and insulation. I have a tool that you have first crimp the bare wire, than crimp to the insulation, two operations. I think for a LOT more $$ you can get a tool that does both crimps at one time.

So my father in law ordered the delphi connector from JD waiting on it but in the meantime I have inspected the wires and I think that is where the problem is i think they were bare and touching. I have seperated them and have had no problems since. Still going to replace the connector and the wiring I believe it is brittle and old.

It definitely was the the wiring and or the connector on the sensor. I appreciate all the help.
