John Deere 5103 Questions?

I’m new to the forums, I recently purchased a 2005 John Deere 2005 5103. It is a two wheel drive with a manual transmission. It has the ranges and the three speeds and reverse. The tractor has less than 200 hours on it. I was just curious if other owners had any issues with it jumping out of 3rd gear. You can hold it in but no matter the range it jumps out. With the hours it’s hard to see a sliding clutch issue in transmission. Has anyone seen issues with the shifters? I have not tore into it to check it out yet. Any other 5103 owner out there? This is the newest tractor I’ve ever had. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I don't have that transmission or tractor. But I spent well over ten grand replacing a manual 1000 hour JD tranny on our 6200 on account of very similar issues and putting in what they call their power quad.

Sometimes it can be a linkage cable issue, but this generally only makes the poor transmission operation worse and is not the cause by itself.

Thanks for the input seems odd. I’m not sure if the 6200 has the remote mounted shifter set up?

Yes it does.

Just a WILD guess; shift fork might be bent by someone trying to shift on the go or not fully depressing the clutch. So now gear is not fully engaged and popping out of gear.

It is possible. I need to look into the remote looking shifter and see if the shaft is moving completely.
