John Deere 5093e
New to the forum and I have googled, brought in a certified mechanic who replaced the PTO selenoid and also the tractor now has fresh hydraulic oil and filter. Screen was extremely clean. So I come here to ask you all. But my issue is when I'm disc mowing, the mower will get up to speed and work well for maybe 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 2 hours, or just 10 seconds before the PTO stops working and quits turning while the PTO switch is still engaged. The PTO will just stop working at random. After trying to get the field mowed today, what seemed to help keep the PTO and mower working properly was when I would notice the PTO was slowing down during operation, I would push the clutch in and the PTO and mower would speed back up to to working operation. Also, and this happened nearly every time, when I got into thick hay, the PTO would start to slow down like it was being turned off. I was mowing in B1. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

So the tractor has a PTO switch and not a manual PTO lever. Have ya'll replaced the switch? Or tried the PTO by possibly by-passing the switch?

As suggested it may be the switch but you may also want to investigate the solenoid which it probably activates. The worst possible case could be the clutch but if the tractor keeps moving normally it's probably not that.

I'll replace the switch as suggested. At this point it couldn't hurt. The selenoid was the part replaced. You mention the clutch, today i was mowing on a steep decline, again in B1, and the tractor took off down the hill. I just kept it straight until i reached the bottom, but when it slowed down, everything caught up and was moving in normal speed as before. Clutch slip? Not sure. I didnt press in the clutch and the power shuttle was still in the forward position.

If the tractor took off down a hill in B1 you have bigger problems than the PTO switch, it's probably time to get it to a dealer or a good local heavy equipment mechanic, good luck and please come back and let us know what the problem is/was when you get it fixed.

I've heard from local farmers it possibly being a hydraulic line for the transmission and/or clutch. Guess I'll be contacting Ag Pro. They sold me the thing last fall. It works great moving hay.. about it.

I took the Tractor to Meade in Greenville, TN. I didn't take it to Ag-Pro whom I bought it from; I'm still debating on leaving them a bad review. The clutch was bad and was robbing power from the PTO. Clutch and a few extra parts were replaced. Labor was costly. But the tractor has been repaired. Just wanted to post and keep you all updated who commented.
