Tractor
.
I want to know what y'all options are when comparing these two tractors. I'll give you my opinions of what I like better about both tractors. I've been bouncing back and forth on which to buy for a while now and I like them both.

I've looked at the current tractor market for about a year now and am getting close to the point of getting a new tractor. I've decided between either a newer JD 5075E or a MF 2607H. This will be used for up keeping my property I'm about to build a house on, (32 acres) hay farming 60+ acres, woods work, etc.

I will likely buy one without a loader and I may add one later but not really sure yet. I've always had a real love/hate relationship with FEL's. They're extremely useful and you can use them a lot but when I don't need one I hate having it on the tractor. On top of it they add a lot of cost to the machine. Growing up we never had tractors with a FEL (even though my grandpa had an old Ford Balmar) and we got by, but my dad has gotten to the point where all his new tractors have FEL's and he's adamant that I'll regret not getting one on a new tractor.

Anyway if cost wasn't an issue then I would say the JD all day.

Pro's for the 5075E I'm optioning out in order from most important to least as I can see them:
-12x12 PowrReverser transmission (huge plus and seeing as I'm use to older tractors that would spoil me like crazy)
-The spec's on the JD HL240 FEL are twice as good as the spec's on the MF 911X FEL.
-5075E is more popular and will likely be easier to find parts for and repair when the tractor is out of warranty.
-Wet clutch instead of dry clutch like the 2607H has.
-JD has a 540E PTO.
- 3PH is rated to lift about an extra 400 lbs over the MF.
-The tilt steering, electric PTO, and cup holder aren't necessary, but they are nice creator comforts that the Massey is missing.
-The hydraulics look to flow a little more on the Deere.

Pro's for the 2607H from the most to least important as I'm seeing them:
-2607H looks to cost around $5,500 less even though you don't have to get the Deere with the PowrReverser transmission but it adds a lot of features that I listed as bonuses for the Deere and I prefer the MF 8x8 shuttle to JD's 9x3 shuttle. This is also considering I'm optioning the Deere with the loader ready package which is around $1100.
-MF has better financing options than JD.
-No DPF on the 2600H series. I'm pretty sure it has no regen cycle.(huge plus for the MF IMO)
-I find the 2600H series more comfortable than the pre-2018 5E. The hump over the tranny is lower, the foot throttle better positioned, more room to spread out as there is no remote for the FEL on the floor. The Deere's tilt steering is nice though. The 2600H's ergonomics as quite improved on over the older 2600 series ergonomics, but so are the new 2018 3 cylinder JD 5E series over the older models.
-The 2600H series has great weight and is about an extra 150 lbs heavier than the 5E series.
-The 2600H 3PH is both a Catagory I and II setup where you can option one or the other on the 5E.
-MF comes standard with dual rear remotes which is about an $1,100 option on the Deere.
-The MF comes standard with telescoping draft links which is about a $750 dollar option for the JD.
-IMO these are the two most attractive tractors in their class but I do find the 2600H series better looking. It's a modern looking old school style of Ag/utility tractor IMO. I dig it's style and yes looks do mean something when spending this type of coin IMO.
-The MFWD and steering components for the MF seem better protected than the Deere's even though the Deere's don't seem poorly protected.
-Prefer the MF gas tank location even though I think the Deere's tank in noticeably larger.

I've driven a 5055E 4WD and a 2606H 2WD. I probably like the Deere a little better but I don't know if I like it more enough to justify the extra cost or poor financing options. Either machine is plenty enough for what I should need IMO. What do y'all think?

BTW I found out that the 2018 5E series are just starting to trickle in and have some nice ergonomic upgrades for over the 15-17 models. The DPF is smaller and so the hood is now 3.5" lower and 4" narrower even though it's hard to tell without them side by side IMO. I do think the front of the hood doesn't poke out as much. The hand throttle is now mounted on the right fender and 12" closer to the operator. The foot throttle is way better positioned. It's more out from under the left brake petal to the right of the platform. The loader leaver is supposed to be redesigned which now allows for more right side leg room and that justified the foot throttle relocation. I think there is like 20% more room for the operator on the 2018's platform. The seat is noticeably bigger and better padded. The battery is now located on the right side of the operator platform where the old right side step was. There is no longer a step on the right side of the tractor. They had some 2018 2WD 5045E's without loader or the floor mounted hand control, but they said they likely wouldn't be getting any 2018 4WD 5075E's until May or June. Still I was impressed with the ergonomic improvements. They were very noticeable and the 2018's are definitely more spacious and comfortable than the 15-17 5E's. Losing the right side step kind of sucks but with the hand remote it was hard to use anyway. There may be other improvements but these are the ones I was told about or remember.

Hope this didn't turn into too long of a read.

Thanks,

Jesse

If money was no object but still be reasonable I’d say go to a 5085/5100e with 24x12 trans. Much more capable and comfortable tractor with the 4 cylinder being icing on the cake. I had two bad 5055s so I’m a little jaded on them. I think the 2018s have made incredible strides and would reconsider a smaller 5E now if I was in the market.

Get the loader now and leave it in the shop till you need it. It’ll make the tractor much more useful and easier to sell down the road. A loader is very useful for a hay operation too. Massey’s are nice enough but the Deere is the standard. Go green and you’ll be happy

Thanks,

I would love a 5085E it's just out of my price range and getting a little bigger than I'm wanting. Still I like how they're now made in Augusta as some of my family and my fiancee are from Augusta and some of her family works at the JD plant there so it's built somewhat locally to me, and in a town where I spend much of my time, and people I know help build them. Still just a bit too expensive and more tractor than I really need. Very nice tractor though. I was looking at one Saturday. I agree I would prefer a 4 cylinder as well.

I'm tempted to by a used 5075E. The local dealer for me is called Blanchard and they must have 10-15 dealerships in the southeast. They have quite a few 15-17 5075E's with 400-600 hours selling in the $25k-$27k range. They look almost new other than the front tires being worn with not much tread. Blanchard said they would give me a good deal on getting new tires on one and JD offers pretty decent financing on they're newer used equipment. Apparently these are tractors used on peanut farms.

I would listen to Dad and for sure get the FEL upfront. They are simple remove on most any brand now days and a major plus when trading down the road. I would also weight heavily local dealer distance, quality and support. If NH and Kubota dealers are nearby, don't leave them out of your choices either. I never had a cab tractor until I purchased my Kubota last year and, while they are surely not needed, I will never have one without a cab going forward. If you shop hard and compare apples to apples on similar equipped machines you will see that the prices get pretty competitive across the board. I also found, for dealers in my area, that they stock mostly lower optioned units on their lots because most people price shop only on what is in stock at various dealers. Do not hesitate to order a unit equipped exactly how you want it. This will prevent any regrets and out of pocket costs later on and allows you to get what you want included in your financing up front.

I don't see how you can compare those two tractors. There is absolutely nothing about a 2600 series MF that would make me want to buy one. They are mass produced tractors for the world market made by TAFE in India that you will likely have some quality/workmanship issues with.

IMO the 2600H is a nice looking cash priced tractor, but the finance price makes it look less enticing especially compared to the competition. The quotes I've gotten only differ about $2500, and this is for a 2018 5075E with the powershuttle and the new 520M FEL which I'm told replaces the old H240 FEL.

Look at a Massey Ferguson 4607 It comes standard with 12x12 and has a really well built 3ph.

The wet clutch on the Deere is going to be a lot less maintenance over the long term, especially if you have someone other than yourself using the tractor - like when you are haying. Around here used Deere and Case tractors seem to hold their value, if not actually go up, Masseys not so much. I looked at a lot of sub 75HP tractors (wanted to stay away from DEF) and really did like the Deere and the Massey, but went with a Kioti because I could get a cab model and some other options for what the Deere and MF for a more basic tractor. Really like the loader on the Kioti, very strong and you can finesse it like a good forklift.

TTT.

Just thought I'd show y'all what I ended up getting. 2018 5075E 4WD with the 520M loader and I had them add the knob that controls the shift speed on the PowrReverser. After looking at and driving it, the 2600 series Massey, and a M7060 I decided I liked the Deere the most. I can give certain advantages to all of them though. Right now I've just been doing little pittly jobs with it. It should start seeing a heavier workout in the next month and a half or two.

That is a great looking tractor. I stopped at my local JD dealer today and looked at the new 18 5055-65. Dam I am impressed with the new design. I stopped to take a look at a 4066r and the salesman show me it and then the 50xx series and wow what a difference in tractors. The new 18 50xx is on my short list for sure.
