2000 New Holland TN65 & 1956 John Deere 50
I have a 1956 John Deere Model 50 that was manufactured in February 1956 - just prior to the changeover to the Model 520. It was the last of the 300 "50's" built.

I restored it completely and it actually runs better than when it was new. Not sure why it runs better, perhaps the timing was off or some other reason.

The REAL problem is the sentimental value. I was sitting on my grandfather's hay wagon when he made the deal with the salesman; tried to talk my grandfather into getting a "60" rather than a "50". No go there!!

The salesman gave me a John Deere toy tractor (which I still have today) along with the purchase of the Model 50.

For my own selfish reasons...I guess it would be worth $50,000; but in reality...what is it really worth?

Just curious...I may want to sell.

Chuck, the simple answer is: What ever someone is willing to give you....Without seeing, running, driving, pulling something with your 50, its hard to say what "its worth" is....any pictures? BobG in VA

The blue book value is about $3400 tops.

With a completely rebuilt engine/tranny/hydraulics maybe $5500 (my guestimate).

Don't know how to price your "last of 300" feature. I think you will have to find a highly motivated JD collector to get really big bucks for your 50.

i've seen some totally restored ones going for about 6500 or so. most i see are going for about 3k or so. also depends on the yr and what little extras they may have. check out tractorhouse.com, i believe the blue book value is about 3500 tops. again sentimental value can't be touched, i wouldn't think about selling our h or 50 as the h was the original tractor that my grandparents bought for the farm, and the 50 has been around since i was about 10yrs old.

The 50 was an upgraded B for the most part. In general, The styled B is a classic, but not a "high dollar" Deere. The 520 is worth more, the 530 is worth WAY more.

A "family heirloom" is worth more to family than it is to most buyers.

All that said, I've seen rough but running 50's sell for $1500. I've seen original condition low houred 50's sell for $5000 and up. I saw an "EXPO quality" restoration sell for $7500 a few years ago.

Average to good condition probably $2500 to $3000 tops.

But with that history, no amount would be enough. I've got a $2000 Ferguson F-40 that I wouldn't sell for $100,000. Too many memories.
