Tractor
John Deere 4710
After doing a oil change, my tractor would not start. I checked the fueses that I could locate and found one that was melted. I replaced after having to do surgery with tweezers to get it out. Tried to start it and it just turn and turn but want start.
Does anyone have any idea of what the problem is?:confused3:

is the fuel shutoff energizing with they key on. You should hear a click when it energizes

What was the melted fuse for?

I'm not sure what that fuse was for but it was a 20amp.

I have some JD wsm's and to start am sending you a page regarding fuses and relays.
I marked the 20 amp fuse which you stated had blown.
Is it possible you did more than oil change as ending up with blown fuse is most unusual.

Any battery boosting or new battery in this story?

Can you advise if this fuse and relay image looks like yours?

No mine isn't exactly laid out like that but similar. I did have to boost it to get started before I put into garage to change the oil. After oil change it wouldn't start so I checked fuses to see why and found light fuse burned out and found corrosion on some other fuses. Cleaned all fuses and then discovered another 20amp blown. I changed it and it started right up.
Thanks for help.

Many of John Deere's newer models put a lot of effort in their design to protect electronic components from reversed battery or charger connection. The use relays and a collection of diodes called a diode block which, until you examine it closely, will look like any relay.

It would be wise to check if your machine does indeed have a diode block. If it does there is a simple procedure to check it. The tractor will likely run with some of these diodes blown but what you do if you run this way is to loose the protection designed into the system and next time you connect a charger or boost, something very expensive could be blown.

This is what the diode block looks like
