John Deere 425
I am new to the forum and am looking for help with a John Deere 4500 that will not start. The tractor has been sitting for 2-3 years. The tractor cranks, and the fuel shut-off solenoid is working properly. I have constant fuel flow if I crack the supply line going into the injection pump, however no matter what I do I cannot get fuel to the injectors. Thinking that maybe the prime/lift pump was not supplying enough pressure to the injection pump I even pressurized the fuel tank with air to push fuel to the injection pump. I've cranked this thing over forever with one of the injector lines cracked but never get any fuel.

It seems to be behaving like the fuel shut off solenoid is not retracting, but I have made sure that is not the case. I even tried with the shut off solenoid removed all together. Im hoping it doesnt need an entire injection pump because I priced one out at about $4k.

Does anyone have any ideas? With the shut off solenoid removed, I stick my finger in the hole to work the lever that the solenoid plunger operates. There is very little movement on this lever and I dont know if this is normal. The plunger travel on the solenoid is about 3/8" or so, but the travel on the mechanical lever inside the pump is much less than that. Is it possible the mechanical fuel is shut off even though the solenoid is retracting?

Thanks for any info.
