John deere 445 wiring

I was given a JD445 with a blown engine, owner removed and took motor apart, far to destroyed to rebuild.I purchased a used engine.I have it all installed except for 2 wires.Down at the starter motor you have the big battery cable and 2 grey wires on a ring terminal and also 2 black wires on a ring terminal It looks like the grey one goes on starter term with big battery wire.As if I put it with battery wire, dash lights up and you can hear fuel pump.Where does the black ones go? same terminal or under a ground bolt?? If it touch it to battery wire the starter will run. I Think it needs to go to ground??This is a older 445 with fuel injection.Anyone have a 445 similar? Thanks

what make is the new engine??.

Same as old engine Kawasaki FD620. The wires in question are from the tractor wire harness,not the engine.I swapped all the wiring from old engine to the replacement one. These wires the original owner removed when he took the engine out. I was not there to see where they came from

What is the s/n of 445 as there is a s/n break at 70000? .. not sure if wiring is different or not but will look up the one for your s/n for you.

And for the 445... may not be different from the 425 radios1 shows..

the black wire from the fuel injection relay, and the negative of the battery are both black wires, and they go to the engine ground. to get the engine out, both wires have to be removed by removing the engine bolt they connect to, so it makes sense!..

Thanks guys..I'll go get the serial # Well like JD serial stickers.It's all but useless. mostly gone. but in comparing parts I'm sure its lower than 70,000 the engine, Kawasaki FD620 has a mfg.date of 05/98...I did connect black to ground.all gages seem to work,but now if key is on position and you sit on seat,and push brake pedal the starter runs without start position on key.removing brownish wire from starter sol.and it stops.Brownish wire changes to purple at the engine plug in connector.I wondering if key switch board is ???

You are right fuel injection and pump.and they go on the front of the motor motor starter side.
