I recently purchased a 4020 Gas from a friend who got it through a barn find. It's a 4020 Gas Powershift, with a cab and seems to be pretty clean. The main plans for it is just do some plowing for some food plots I want to put in probably roughing 3-5 acres a year. I have a 5 bottom 14" fully mounted to use which I think it should be capable of pulling. Its got plenty of rubber on the tires, and its reading 4300 hours which I believe to be true. Was able to get it started but plan on going through it and doing a service on it before using. I have attached some pics of the actual tractor. I ended up paying 4500 and not sure if it was good a bad price but I think it was a fair price... Again not really sure. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

4020's gas or diesel hold their value quite well. I prefer the open station but you did fine.

You still see them going for upwards of $10,000 with a dieselPowershift

I don't think it will pull 5 14's in virgin ground unless it's sandy loam. It might but I doubt it. 3 14's maybe. You need FWA for 5 and an oil burner.

It might if you have a semi-mounted, I had a 66 Powr Shift that routinely pulled a 5 bottom semi-mounted. Granted it was a diesel, but it never felt overly loaded or consumed fuel like it was.

That is one tractor that I wish I had never sold.

I owned two different 4020 gas tractors with the Powershift transmission over a ten year period. They were a little thirsty on fuel as they used about two gallons per hour more than their diesel brothers. But for utility work around the property only putting on about 100 hours per year the extra fuel cost was not significant. Because the gasoline model uses more fuel many of them were not used for heavy all day tillage. Of course many of them had loaders installed which can cause its own clutch/transmission issues.

Growing up in a farming area in Minnesota in the 60s and 70s the 4020 was the dominate tractor and when I got older I was determined to get one. Most of the diesel versions had lots of hours and if they didn't they were priced two to three thousand more than the gasoline versions. I found a very nice 1966 gas version with the powershift. Tires were worn and the paint was faded but it started and ran great. A new set of tires and fresh paint and it looked the 4020 I remembered as a kid.

I ended up selling the tractor for a 4030 with a SoundGard cab. I liked the cab but there are many times I wish I had the 4020 gas back.
