John Deere 3520 and MX8 Mower

In a bit of a delima.. I've got an obligation to mow some property that will require an 8 or 10 foot bush hog. Right now I've only got my JD 3520 tractor; the JD 5115M is on order, but won't be here in time to fulfill the mowing timeline.

Do you think a 3520 would pull a MX8 or MX10, even if at a very slow speed, on the highest mowing height?

Not cost effective in this case.

I've got a 7 foot finish mower on it now.. I suppose it would suffice.. just be mowing through some tall thick stuff.. might have to go over it twice I suppose?

Once you get the first row cut you could always cut only as much of the width as you can handle

True. I think I'll give this a whirl. I just don't want to overwork the finish mower (Bushog RDTH84). It's pretty beefy, but would hate to tear something up on it. Going to be quite a bit of mowing. Probably 100 acres or so, all added up.

If the fields are smooth enough and known to you why not use the MX5 at a higher travel speed? This way you can buy the larger mower for the new tractor unemcumbered. That is a lot to mow with the small tractor and will make you aprreciate the new 5115M when it arrives.

Sold the MX5. And this land is all new unknown. Hasn't been mowed in 2 years.

I sold my older 820 with the MX6 a few weeks ago and am thinking about adding a 5115M to my 4520 and 110tlb for my work. I will be interested in how the new tractor works out for you.
