John Deere 322 tank sensor

Greetings

I have a JD 322 Lawn mower and am having trouble with the low fuel sensor and seal. I had a wire come off the senser (no big deal but these are no longer available AM104218) and I cannot stop a gas leak around it. It looks like the leak is from the bushing/tank area not from the sensor/bushing area. I did buy a new rubber bushing (M88976) but it is still leaking.

Can someone advise me how to fix this whole area?

One more thing, my senser has two wires coming out of it going to the plug. The big wire is seperated from the sensor and the small wire is seperated from the plug. Can these be Soldered back together?
