Have inherited a john deere 320 had a new pto clutch put in, basically serviced. But now 2 months the thing has died and won't start. Turn key nothing just the red ignition light comes on. Have taken the battery out to be tested and it tested fine. Has got to be somthing simple but need to get somebody to run the tester on it. Problem is how do you get the thing to roll in reverse to get it out of the garage. Does it not have some king of lever you can pull like on a cub cadet or other tractors. any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks

:welcome:

There is an over-ride lever on the transaxle that will 'shift' it into neutral.

For starting, have you made sure the pto on/off is in off position? That is a fooler sometimes.

I'll look for more specific help with that lever.

Didn't find what I was looking for. A knob or lever to pull or lift. ??

Are you talking about a Lawn and Garden tractor like the 318? If so there is a lever on the frame under the rt fender above the wheel. Rock the tractor while lifting the lever and it will disconnect the hydro.

Some things for the no crank problem. Make sure the brake pedal is depressed, the PTO is off, you have to be on the seat, and the hydro lever is at the neutral position.

If this is a lawn & garden 320 here is a picture from a 1993 model that shows the location. Above and to the left of the dipstick in the transaxle. To move the tractor, push the lever down and HOLD it down while moving the tractor.

My local John Deere Dealer says there is NO DISCONNECT. They also said the 320 has a floating gas tank (wobley) even though I have owned it since day one without any wobble. What is going on? Don't John Deere dealers want to repair their products?

Welcome to TBN

From your post, can't tell what you are describing or what your problem is that you question. Can you give us more information?
Maybe start your own post or copy what in the 13 year old thread you are referring to there. thanks
