John Deere 318 rear pto problem

Hi, I a have a little issue with my 318 and hoping someone has encountered this and can help.
When I hook up the rear tiller for my 318 it turns on and works great. The moment I turn it off and then try to restart the pto it never turns on until I park it and use it the next day. Sometimes when I start the pto it engages about 20-30 seconds later.

Sounds like the air gap in the pto is to large. Use a feeler gauge and measure the gap i believe it should be about 7thousands of a inch. You can tighten the gap by tightening the three nuts around the outside edge of the pto. Be sure to tight each bolt a equal amount until you get the proper gap.
