JD310D
My son-in-law has a JD310D with front end loader and backhoe. It is an older machine like back in the mid 70's.. We are both new to heavy duty equipment. Here is our problem. First we had a major leak on a hose connection right down in under the seat next to the filter. Two "O" rings were replaced which stopped the leakage. The mechanic that did the repairs replaced the hydraulic oil with a AW 32 weight oil. Everything work great until the machine warms up, Once it has worked for an hour or so it has no power to push anything with the bucket, the hoe lacks power etc.. For one example, after just a short half hour working it did not have enough "Umph" to propell itself "FORWARD" up a steep driveway, but when we turned around it would back up the driveway.

What should we be looking for......I read somewhere the JD310 was somewhat fussy on the hydraulic oil. Have we used the wrong oil? Another suggestion was made about some magnet plugging up that needs to be cleaned.. What else may we be overlooking? Any suggestions as to where to start will be greatly appreciated.

This is taken from the manual : Quote:You may also use oils which meet minimum John
Deere standards, or other oils meeting John Deere
Standard JDM J20A or J20C and J20B or J20D.
JOHN DEERE HY-GARD  TRANSMISSION AND
HYDRAULIC OIL IS RECOMMENDED because it is
specifically formulated to minimize brake chatter, and
to provide maximum protection against mechanical
wear. Oils meeting MIL-L46167A may be used as arctic oil. End Quote:

Now, can someone help me determine if our 32 weight oil meets these specs. Thanks.

How long since hyd filters were changed and sump screen(parts key 30) checked/cleaned. As the other poster stated JD Hy-Gard oil or it's equivalent. I also recommend checking stand-by pressure which should be 2700 psi according to Tractordata.com

Here is the first post and his question highlighted in his second post. I don't know the answer, but you have the resources to answer it.
