John Deere 3033R Fuel shut off at filter broke off

The picture says it all. Plowing into crazy deep wet snow, and a "chunk" must have come up and popped this off. JD wants $180 for the entire fuel filter body vs. the replacement valve insert. The temp fix was the thread a small screw into the plastic to stop the leak and get the tractor into my garage. Any ideas on where to get just the value?

What a pain! I suspect you will need to bite the bullet and get the part that John Deere is quoting you. It's the sure fix, and likely quicker than trying to source a replacement valve.
I just replaced the pre filter / water separator on my tractor (not John Deere) with a much more capable Racor water separator. / filter. You could always do the same for a similar amount of money to your potential repair.

Same part(s) are used on the 770, 870, 970, & 1070 tractors and a few others. On (my) 1070 fuel parts diagram, items labeled 4,5,6 & 35 look like they should fix you up. 35 is the handle.

I went with JD. The part was expensive and more than I needed, but it came within 48 hours and was delivered to my doorstep. JD = Expensive, but usually A+ service and quality. Pulled out stopcock valve and replaced it in 1 minute with almost little additional fuel loss. Thx for the suggestions.
