John Deere 3032e neutof Error Message - Bypass?

Had an error message of neutof on a John Deere 3032e. I read some forums where it was suggested to jumper the line and bypass the Neutral Safety Switch to verify it was faulty. I did that but the tractor still would not start. Bought the replacement switch anyway and the tractor fired up right away. I guess the point is, simply using a jumper to bypass the switch isn't necessarily a foolproof diagnosis tool.
