John Deere 302 Industrial Tractor

Found one of these tractors and wanting some opinions from the John Deere guys here. I know the tractor was produced as a industrial model and that is about it. There isn't much information on the web about these tractors other than for sale ads. Anyone have any experience with this tractor? What about industrial model tractors altogether? What makes them industrial other than the yellow paint?

I think, but could be wrong, the green utility tractor version was a 2240.

Might not have a 3PT hitch, PTO, or rear hydraulics. Usually had non adjustable one piece front axle.

Also the following was optional:
Hydraulic reverser trans(8x8)
Two 12 volt batteries
Grille guard
Mid PTO
Exhaust either vertical or under-axle rear outlet
Rear PTO could be either live or independent or none
Swinging drawbar or none
Toolbox

Foot throttle
Single, dual or no remote hydraulics

Had a diesel version for a few years. They are a yellow version of a 1530. Mine had a handbrake instead of a park position on the shifter. Otherwise if you study a parts book they are or can be equipped the same way, just had a different standard equipment list.

Don't overlook it because its yellow. If its a good tractor and a good price then buy it. The yellow does seem to lower the price sometimes but thats good when you're buying.

Check for loud hydraulic noise, loose steering joints, and loose rockshaft arms, all are common and not to bad to fix.

Reversers and hi-low shift were not real common options.

I own a 302 diesel and have since 2006. It's a great little tractor and I've gotten a lot of use out of it. All of the posts above are true. I don't think this machine has ever been overhauled and it's getting a bit tired, but still runs very well. One note is that it's not a quiet tractor; I always were hearing protection when operating. Parts online seem easy to buy; I have replaced one front hub and bearing assembly and two tie rod ends. Hope this helps.

yES I JUST BOUGHT A 1974 INDUSTRIAL LOADER AND IT RUNS GOOD & IT HAS NO LEAKS . I HOPE I HAVE GOOD LUCK WITH IT.

Hey guys,

I just bought a well used 302.
It's full featured and running strong but the dash is dead and I'm sure it needs maintenance.

Can anyone send me a copy of the manual?

I believe the 1530 manual will work as well as the 302???
