John Deere 2520 starting circuit.

I have a John Deere 2520 with an electrical problem in the starting circuit. Getting voltage through the ignition switch but died suddenly and won't start. Lights work but that's it. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Does anyone have a description of the starting circuit or can suggest how to trace the problem down? I have confirmed it's not seat switch.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To be sure everyone understand's,is engine turning over when you attempt to start? Is there a click each time key is turned to start but nothing else happens?
If engine turn's over but fails to start,fuel shut-off is a weak spot on these machines. See if it's getting 12volts while key is on. If not,jump power to it to see if engine starts.

The engine is not turning around very and there is not clicking when the key comes s turned on. New, fully charged battery.

Apologies for the mis-typing (auto-correct). The engine is not turning over nor do I hear the fuel pump click in. It shutdown suddenly while mowing as if I turned the key off. Starter won’t turn over and I don’t hear anything when I turn on ignition though the lights work fine and the new battery is fully charged. I confirmed with the volt meter that I am getting voltage through the ignition switch properly (both run and start circuits). I have numbered seat switch to confirm it is not the problem and it made no difference. Since with me in the seat it should not have quit due to pto or transmission interlocks I doubt those are the issue. I traced some of the harness out beyond the ignition switch to see where it is losing voltage but since it’s a big job to pull it all apart I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction or can provide a description or schematic of the start and run circuits.

Is the 'click' that you're not hearing the fuel solenoid? If it's not engaging then there will be no fuel transferred to the fuel pump.

Check your fuses, which are listed (hopefully with a handy diagram) in your Owner Manual. There may also be a relay involved and may also be located where your fuses are; if the Manual says that the relays are the same type, you can swap them around to see if the fault transfers to another 'system'.

How many hours does your tractor have?

I have a Yanmar shop manual which I believe covers the engine in your tractor.

It has a comprehensive trouble shooting section for the starter.

You might find some good ideas.

John Deere has made available a relay kit for some models which are having difficulty pulling in the starter solenoid.
Over time each safety switch develops some electrical resistance and at a point in time there is not enough power to engage the starter.

After you have gone through the Yanmar stuff and if it seems like another relay would help I can direct you.
