Ok so my father recently bought a John Deere 2240 with a 143 loader, and the tractor only has 2100 hours on it. However he is aging in years so any problems the tractor has falls back on me. So all that being said after the tractor has been used for a while say an hour and a half or so doing light work around the house the transmission becomes hard to shift. My experiences so far have been that when the clutch is pushed all the way in and the tractor is idling both the high, low, and reverse ranges as well as the 1-4 gearbox are still spinning like the clutch is still engaged. However if you take the tractor out of gear you can shift the range no problem and vise versa. Now I'm hoping that it could just be that the clutch needs adjusting and that the tractor doesn't need to be broke in half. It shouldn't need a clutch work as it has such low hours unless it was used for a bulldozer but it feels tight when you drive it. Just my thoughts so far, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
