John Deere 2155
Hi. Since buying this, I have had intermittent periods where the rock shaft arms will not lower all the way. I would play with the load arm; however after running the rotor tiller too deep the arm is now only going full height to perhaps half. I bought the manual, but reluctant to open up. It's a PDF manual with poor quality pictures.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience with the rocker arm shaft / hydraulic assy. Thank you, Ken

I have a similar issue on my 2355. It required some messing with to work properly. I could try to take pictures of the Rockshaft adjustments from my manual if you would like ? There is a "working depth" adjustment, control lever adjustment, then the rockshaft selector lever,.... I only use this feature spreading gravel. Don't do any other implements.

My guess is L/D control mechanism needs to be adjusted as outlined in JD tech manual or cam follower(shaded part in photo below) is not located in correct location in rockshaft control linkage.

1st step is put L/D lever under seat in "D'' or minimum which ever applies to your 2155. Tiller going too low in soil should have no affect on 3 pt control linkage unless cam follower in photo has a problem. I think one can inspect location of cam follower with a bore scope inserted in open hyd filler hole behind seat. Another possibility is spring(item 8) is broken/disconnected

You don't have the draft control activated I assume? With draft engaged it will only lower as far as the draft control is set. Just spit balling.

Thank you. I will check out today. There are not many local resources on tractor maintenance, so this is greatly appreciated.

Here are a few pages from my operator manual for JD 2355 and JD 2555. Pics may be out of order / sequence. But, you can check if you have the levers in the correct positions.
Hopefully these are readable.

L/D lever on JD utility tractors built from '65-'92 similar to model 2155 ""when set to factory specifications"" will not have any affect on how low 3pt draft arms lower when 3 pt control lever is moved 100% forward in it's quadrant. Rate of drop screw under seat does affect 3 pt lowering speed & when rate of drop screw is 100% closed will keep 3 pt from lowering

Thank you Tx Jim. That is helpful. My drop rate screw appears to function properly, I've tried multiple tests with this, but maybe something is going on with this. I was pulling the transmission out of my 95 Dodge Cummins last night so it got to late to check the tractor. Will try today or tomorrow and update.

Thank you Spike56. Will reread tonight and see if I'm missing anything and report back.
