John Deere 2040 Electrical Wiring Schematic Help

I have a JD 2040 that I recently bought and the wiring is a mess. Everything is unplugged and none of the gages work. I need to rewire it but I dont have any schematics. does anyone have any schematics for it that you woud share with me?

Have you considered purchasing a JD 2040 tech manual? There is a serial break @ 350000. I have a 2040 tech manual for lower serial # tractors but I have no way to scan it.

I purchased one online, actualy 2, but they both are for the 24V model and mine is a 12V. I have used what I can but really need to find the right manual or someone with the schematics. My serial number is lower than the 350000 that you mentioned.

I sold JD 2040's when they were brand new. I didn't realize any 2040 had 24 volt electrical system. I can't locate any 2040 with 24 volt electrical system in JD parts. Are you positive electrical system is for 24 volts or merely two 12 volt batteries attached in parallel for extra starting capacity?

My mistake. Thats what I meant. My tractor only has one 12V battery but the schematics are for two 12V batteries. The tach is also different. Im kind of leary of buying another manual online because I dont wont to end up with the same ones that I have. Im thinking that I may be able to put it back together with what I have and a multimeter. Thank you for you reply.

The tech manual # you posted will be dependent on if Moto101's 2040 was built for sales in N America with 3 cyl engine or European countries with 4 cyl engine. Plus early 2040 built for N American sales up to serial # 266,750 had open center hyd's while later models had closed center hyd's.

Mine is a 3 cylinder diesel with a SN# less than 266,750. What is open and closed center hydraulics?
