John Deere 1250 not getting fuel

My 1250 acts like it isn't getting fuel. When I crack the bleeder screw and try to bleed any air out it doesn't push any fuel out. Do I need to start with the fuel filter first or is there something else I should look for? Thanks

Also besides new fuel filter check for good fuel flow from tank to filter.
