John Deere 110 hrs & reverse peddle

Hi, I am new to forums and have been doing lot of researching on here... Great forum!
I have a question on how many hours is high hours, friend has one I have used and have thought about asking him about buying it has over 5000hrs.
Also, anyone have problem with the reverse peddle not wanting to return all the way without pulling it up with your foot? Maybe it's just lube and cleaning issue. Also noticed the oil pan seems to have seepage around edges.
Would appreciate your opinions.

Lube it, and make sure there is no debris packed in (or a stick jambed in ) by the linkage.

Hours depends on a lot of things.. best go on how it performs at the moment.

From other posts I've read here on TBN (worth a search or two on your part), I'd check for any cracks in the rear end casting.. seems the 110 TLB has some problems there.

Those more knowledgeable than I will have more to offer.

I am very far from an expert on 110 total hours, but I think that might be the highest hour one I have heard of. I personally would not want to pay a lot for it. Even if it was very well cared for, stuff can 'go' at anytime.

Yep, this is a very high time machine. Unless major money has been spent on it recently, as in the motor, hydraulics, hoses, etc. I would consider it to end up being a money pit unless you get a screaming deal.

If you do the math, say he bought it for $36,000 new and put over 5000 hours on it. He has used it for this long for only $7/ hour. Cheap for a backhoe, unless like I said, he has sunk a lot into refurbishing it already.

That's kinda what I thought.... lots of hrs and repairs don't seem to be cheap on these machines. It seems to run good, no smoking. Needs some cosmetic repairs and pin aren't too sloppy. Just didn't know if would be worth buying but if I got it cheap maybe. Maybe offer him like 14k?

I would have a dealer look it over for that much money. Who knows, it might last another couple thousand hours. Post back if you get it.

For what its worth I purchased my 110 two years ago and it looked like new with only 600 hours for 18,000 and had to put 3,000 in it so far. I would re-think your offer and do some fact finding from your local dealers or check some of the equipment used sites to compare. It works great when it works. Good luck

Another "for what it's worth" Recent CL ad for a one owner 110, never a rental, hoe had a thumb, plus extra front hydraulics, and 3pt hitch parts, 1300 hours for $14K. It was not on very long. If I were in the market for one, it would have mine.
