Have you started on the split yet or is the dealer doing it? Do they sell a hydrostat rebuild kit or do you have to buy a new one? I can only imagine what it would cost from Deere to do the complete job.

I have JD doing it. they are about 1k in labor. These particular models are non serviceable so you have to buy a whole new transmission and they dont even have a core on the old one.

I wouldn't mess with it either for $1k in labor. Not that I'm implying in any way they'll try to pull a fast one but I'd make sure I got the $1k labor estimate in writing.

Shop rate @ $100/hr would give them one guy 10hrs for a split/fix and reassemble. I've split my fair share of loader tractors and there's no way I could do it by myself in 10hrs. Depending where it it needs to be split, the bell housing or the rear axle changes things a lot.
