John Deere 10A backhoe

Hello all
Is the 10A hoe typically set up as an open center or closed center hydraulic system? If open does anyone know if it can be converted to closed with a plug kit? and if so does anyone know if the kit still available? I am going to look at one this weekend and just want to have my ducks in a row to make an offer.

Not sure but I think the 10 and 10a are pretty much the same. I have a 10 that was set up for my 5210 which is open center. There is a fitting that will switch from one system to the other. Check with your local dealer. They should be able to help you out.

Bought my 10A used and it was on an open Center 52xx Deere . Opened up the parts book and ordered the closed Center Plug for use with my 1640.
Plumbed it direct the same way as the loader is connected . High pressure from a T prior to the SCV and return oil to the ported filter cover . Doesn稚 cavitate or run slow due lack of oil .

The parts book also has the bolt on brackets to connect the sub frame . Takes 2-3 minutes to remove the backhoe and 5-7 minutes to install. Two backers that bolt to the bell housing and a heavy rear bracket that bolts to the sway bar and top link mount .
The grease fitting holes were not bored all the way through on on set of bucket linkages . The pins that the stabilizer rotate on need lots of grease or they will seize and spin the retainer pins .
Good working backhoe for modest jobs . 12” bucket is the max for hard clay .
