John deer 160 model

I have a John Deere 160 runs great but when I put the mower in gear it will not move I can hear noise towards the rear of the lawnmower like maybe some broken parts in drive system need some input please frequent problems possibly

Sounds serious.
What won't move? the tractor or the mower deck? Just to be sure we are on the same page.

Maybe remove the rear fender deck and investigate where the noise may be coming from. If the traction drive belt is intact (not frayed either), then maybe you can hope that it is an idler pulley problem.

Could also jack up the rear of the tractor, and rotate the wheels to see if you can hear parts rattling around in the transaxle.
