Installing a 9K tractor/vehicle lift and would like to extend the hydraulic lines so I can mount the motor on an adjacent wall. Current hose is imported, 8mm ID, 4000psi. No one around here carries 8mm hose in 100R2, so I'm going with 3/8ID 100R2. Here's the challenge. The current hose connectors, according to the company, are #6 JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) fittings. Here's some snapshots of the connectors.

From the research I did on-line, the JIS fitting is supposed to have a 30deg straight mating surface (similar to the 37deg angle for JIC fittings). The mating portion of the male fitting in the pic looks rounded to me. Hard to tell with the female, but the mating surface seems straight and there looks to be a circular marking that may be a mating line. I'd like to convert these connections to JIC and was able to find some JIS-JIC adapters on-line. However, if this isn't an actual JIS fitting, I'm worried about compromising the hydraulic seal integrity with an adapter.

I could simply replace all the fittings with JIC, however, the fitting that connects to the lift jack (left pic below) is not just a long male pipe (with the same rounded end connector), but apparently has some function (right pic). I'm guessing it may be some sort of backflow valve, but still checking with the company. Whatever it is, there won't be an equivalent JIC fitting, so I will have to use an adapter. Hope this makes sense.

What think ye hydraulic experts?

G'day the fitting in your jack is probably to control (slow or stop) flow in case of hose failure I would not suggest taking that out of the system adaptors should work fine to bring it back to JIC.

The fitting in the bottom 2 pix is a velocity fuse, intended to interrupt flow if hydraulic pressure is lost as banjodunn indicated (thx). I can use a JIC adapter to replace the JIS adapter on the motor side. Looks like only option for the velocity fuse connection is a JIS-JIC adapter.
