Would anyone or any supporting dealer please care to comment on the good, the bad, and the ugly of the 4 cylinder Y485 on the new Jinma 354Le which are now being shipped? Seems like they no longer are exporting the 3 cylinder model due to EPA concerns.
I do notice that the rpm rating is higher and that they claim to run smoother but I would think that you would sacrifice some torque due to the shorter stroke. Torque is what defines a tractors "pulling power" so this may not be a good thing. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Are they actually producing their claimed 35 hp? The 3 cylinder engines it seems were downrated to 30 hp because of the EPA requirements.

I own a 2004 Kama TS354C with a Y485 engine. Pre-EPA. I love this engine (and tractor) for power and smoothest. I think it is a very good engine. I have 140 hours on tractor and I am very satisfied.

The 3 cylinder engines are being imported to the U.S everyday
The TY395T 3 cylinder is made in 3 styles the E1,E2,andE3
the E1 is 35 hp, the E3 is 30 hp, the only difference beteen the 2 are rpm, same exact motors. to make a E3 35 hp all one does is back off the linkage set screw on the pump, takes about 1 minute.
The 4 cylinder is a good engine, but in my opinion the 3 cylinder engines seem to have more torque without having to make it scream at high rpm.
Both are good engines, for torque I like the 3 cylinder better.

The Jaingsu Jaingdong TY395 was one of the most popular for 30 and 35HP engines and was one of the first to be offered with EPA certification in 2005, but surprisingly this engine did not pass EPA for 2006 and is not listed on the list of certified engines on EPA's website. The Y485 is in fact a 35HP engine. It will share many mechanical parts with the Y385, likely the most prolific chinese diesel tractor engine in recent years. It is not the same engine that KAMA used prior to this year. the KAMA was YD485 a direct injection engine that had no glow plugs or compression releif valve. the current engine is basically a 4 cyl version of the 385 swirl chamber engine and is now used by KAMA as well as Jinma. I would guess any TY395s being imported would have to be made in 2005 as they will have to use the 2005 engine family number. Not sure how long customs will let new 2005 engines in, I'm sure they wont' go 6 or 7 years like the 1998 engines /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
