Jinma 354 4wd. Leaking hydraulic fluid (I think)

Hi all.

Bought a used Jinma 354 4wd. Seems to be leaking hydraulic fluid from the rear tank behind the seat. Checked the levels and it seems a bit high. Could that be it ? I will post pictures as soon as I get to my laptop.

That's transmission gear oil.

I have the same model tractor. There is a plug that is supposed to go in that hole. However, when you push the PTO speed selector forward it pushes that plug out.

When I lost the plug I never was able to find a replacement. I cut a small piece of aluminum flashing and glued it on with JB Weld and it hasn't been a problem since.

The oil coming out looks really dirty, you should change it while you're at it.

Ok. Good to know. Thank you so much. The PTO won稚 change out of 540 either. Lever moves to 1000-N-540 but stays spinning in 540 Any ideas ?

I haven't ever had to deal with the PTO transmission so I don't know. It sounds like the lever has become disconnected from the selector mechanism. My recollection (solely from looking at the parts diagram) is that there is a cover on the top that you can remove to access the selector mechanism, you don't have to take the transmission apart or even drain the oil. My bet is you'll see that either something has come out of alignment or something has snapped.
