After finding out all the things to do and not to do for a Jinma 284 splitting and clutch replacement, attached is a full procedure that I wrote which should save anyone else going through this a lot of grief and agony, and answer a lot of questions. It's a step-by-step procedure, with pictures. It may not be absolutely precise for every tractor, but it will get you close and give some things to look for and watch out for. I used to write procedures for large industrial plants to meet FDA guidelines, so hopefully it will be fairly complete for the average home mechanic to get through the process. Jim

Jim - that's a nice detailed write-up. Thanks for sharing it - I'm planning to split my tractor for the first time next year and I'll definitely need the help!
