Hi,

I have a Jinma 284 with the front end loader attached. I have fluid spraying on my right leg (by the gas pedal) sometimes and it seems to be getting worse. I cannot track down where it is coming from. Has anyone had this problem before? It does happen all the time but when it does it spays all over my right leg... Any help is appreciated.

Happened to me too, we're not alone. There's a valve body assembly down there on the right side. It's got pipes and hoses and caps, all of which are potential "leakers". It's just a matter of getting in there with a flashlight and figuring out which one is doing the spraying. In most cases, it's been fixed with the simple application of a wrench.

Greg,

Thanks for your advice!! Ill follow up later to let you know if I was able to fix it with only my wrench... i hope so!

/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gifHello, I had a simular problem JM284LE (<2hr). I found the offending leaky pipe and cap and installed new washers just to be sure.

The pipe was the left side one which runs back to the valve with the 3PH levers on it.

I topped up the oil, and ran the unit -every thing seemed to work no more leak! (FEL, Steering) all OK)

I then raised the rear 3PH up and there it has stayed /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif It worked all OK before the leak??

Any sugestions, anyone...

When sitting on the operator seat, look down between your legs. There is a round or knurled knob - about 2" in diamater - aligned fore and aft. This is the flow control valve, controling how fast the hydraulic fluid circulates. Too tight, and it will stop the return altogether - which also prevents the TPH from lowering on it's own. One of my JM254s had a dirty and corroded flow valve, which required removal and cleaning. There's a tiny set screw recessed into the case below the knob. Remove it. Then try to unscrew the valve body all the way out of the hole. If it comes right out, you're lucky. Clean and return. If not, you might have to knock the roll pin out of the valve stem and remove the knob. Then you can fit a wrench in there to help remove the valve body. Once out, note a circular groove around the valve body. That's where the valve body rides the set screw. When reassembling, take care to get the set screw back into that groove.

Short of that, you may have left some old washer material inside that leak area you repaired.

Is the oil spraying on the front, inside or back of your leg? I had a problem with the saftey valve in the 3PH valve assembly. It was set too high and I had the speed regulating knob that Greg mentioned set a little too tight. The saftey valve let the system pressure exceed 3000 PSI when lifting the brushhog. This blew out an "O" ring in the loader valve and it started dumping oil on my right boot when I would lift the 3PH. It could also be comming from the diverter valve located down by your right foot. I also found a loose connection there. High pressure oil can be dangerous, wear gloves and glasses when trying to locate the source.

one other spot is that valve with the knob on it betwen the legs and under the seat. it has an o-ring under it, it is held on with 4 bolts on each corner, that o-ring can blow out and it will only leak when you raise the 3pt. mine did that and the fluid went UP rather than out tot he side, & I wasn't SINGING in the rain! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Hi,

I also had that problem with my Jinma 254. In my case it was the seal for the driveshaft in the hydraulic pump that broke, so the hyd.pump pressed oil in to the engine. And when the engine was filled with oil, it finally sprayed out trough the crankcase ventilation on the right side of the enginge and hit my leg and boot when I was driving the tractor. So check your oil level in the engine. I got a new hyd. pump on my warranty.

About a month ago, my 284 had the exact same problem. It also seemed to leak if the tractor was parked on an incline (during chipping).

I couldn't find the leak. Sometimes it would leak but I never saw the leak.

So with the tractor running, and the FEL slightly raised, I started gently tugging and flexing the hoses near the FEL controller. Sure enough one started leaking.

The leak I had, occurred on the hose which comes from the quick disconnect. It has a 90 degree swivel fitting on the controller end. The swivel fitting was leaking at the swivel joint.

By the way, that hose has a metric fitting on one end and an inch fitting on the other. The quick disconnects on my tractor are 1/2 inch NPT and the other end is 22 mm parallel thread.

If you're lucky enough to have swapped out the controller as I did, the hose needs to be 1/2 NPT on one end and 3/4 NPT on the other.

Good luck!
