Jim Leavelle

I doubt that any of you know Jim Leavelle personally, but most, if not all, of you have seen his picture a few times. He's the detective who was handcuffed to Lee Harvey Oswald when Jack Ruby shot Oswald. Anyway, I just received the following e-mail today:

Jim Leavelle had a serious fall while visiting his daughter and was flown to Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas for immediate surgery to remove his eye due to the severity of damage. Keep Jim and his family in your prayers.


There will be updates on Jim as received.

Jim would be 91 years old now.

That is sad, Bird. The fact that he is losing his eye means it was severely damaged. I surely hope he recovers with sight in the other eye. That's a lot of trauma for a 91 year old body.

That is definitely good news. Since his peripheral vision will be somewhat diminished, I hope he adapts and does well.
