Jerky Hydro drive

I have Honda rider mower with hydro drive , after 20 min. of mowing it starts surging like it had a lot of free travel in the drive. However in reverse it drives smooth, what do think is wrong? Help!

We have zero turn mowers so it might not help you much. On mine there is a belt that helps drive it. When that belt gets old and stretches it does the stutter step. After 20 minutes or so of use if you have a belt it would be getting hot and expanding. Maybe?

What model of Honda?

Is the surging due to the engine surging or the transmission slipping?
