I'm rebuilding (or just cleaning) the carburetor in my deere 757 with kawasaki 25hp air cooled engine, and when I went to remove it, found this hose (key#1 in pic) attached to the top of the carburetor, but the other end is not connected to anything. The engine does not currently run (I just bought it, wasn't running, was told it did but hasn't been started in several years). I was able to get it to run briefly using starting fluid, but that's it. The hose is clear colored (now amber). Does anyone with a kawasaki motor know if this is normal for that hose to go nowhere? At first I thought it was a breather tube, but it has grime except at the very tip, like it used to be connected to something. Also, if it is a vacuum hose that's disconnected, could explain hard/no starting. Anyone?
