JD4500 MFWD
Hi, what is ya'lls opinion on the value of a 1999 JD4500MFWD, power reverser,600hrs, with a new 400x loader, canopy and turf tires? Have read several pages but not much discussion on the JD4500. Thanks

BTDT, thanks. I started a thread on the JD board about anyone with experience with the 4500 a coupla days ago. No replies as of yet. Anyway, I thought maybe this was the main board that everybody uses.

Try Used Tractors at TractorHouse.com: John Deere Tractors, used farm tractors and farm equipment, Case IH, New Holland, Agco, Caterpillar.
A JD 4600 (300 hours) for sale locally ( Ma )for 17,500 at Norfolk Power equipment, could probably be had for less seeing that it a green tractor on a Kubota lot. Power Equipment
JD 4600 and JD 4500 are basically the same machine. JD 4600 has injector pump turned up. I would pay 15k -16k if machine is in good shape.
You would probably get a better response if you filed out your profile.

Profile now filled out. Thanks for the heads up.

I have now agreed on the price for the JD4500. $15,200. Machine has 646hrs, Canopy, MFWD, power reverser with turf tires and with a new 400x loader. Based on the link you provided(plus other research) that seems to be a pretty fair price.

I had a JD870 mfwd w/440 FEL but traded for JD997 ztrac 0-turn back in summer of 2006. Now I miss the tractor and loader so bad I am sacrificing to get another one.

Had any problems with your 4600?

I have a 1999 or 2000 JD 4500, 4WD, Power Reverser, R4s, with a 460 Loader. The only problems I had was a seal started leaking on the front axle by the right tire (seal wasn't installed correctly- warranty covered it at the time) and had a fuse go out (fuse box is under the steering wheel- mini fuses), and it wouldn't start until I replaced it.

Other than that, regular oil chances, hydralic oil changes and keep the air filters clean and its been almost trouble free (did need to replace the battery after 1.5 years of ownership).

This tractor sat for a year at the dealer lot (they said it was either too big or too small for what customers wanted). I bought it "new" with 3 hours on it. The seat is starting to crack due to the first year of UV rays, now it stays inside.

I think you will like the canopy and the new style loader, not sure about the turf tires- depends on what you want to use it for.

Good Luck!!

Lane sounds like a decent deal. I bought my machine last year used with 400 hours from, a home owner. I valued tractor and 460 loader at about 15k. He had right front wheel seal replaced before I bought it. The oil level on mine kept going up. Had dealer check it out and he replaced fuel pump for less than $300 ,including pickup and delivery. The diaphram in the pump was leaking fuel into sump oil. I thought machine might be too big for ten acres, but usually it just right. I have Ag loaded tires and a JD 48 backhoe which gets a lot of use. I bought the CD with shop manuals which is a great reference. If you have any questions give a shout.

I wonder if all the 4500's are having trouble with the right front seal. Sounds like I better look closely at it. Thats good information.
