JD4410 Tachometer stuck on 2000RPM

I recently purchased a low hour JD4410 compact tractor. Whenever I turn the tractor on, the tachometer jumps right up to 2000 RPM and stays there. I can move the throttle up and down and the engine RPM's move up and down with the throttle but the tach reads 2000RPM no matter if the throttle is set lower or higher. Any suggestions or has anyone else experienced this problem.

I had a similar problem with my Kubota - it went to 3.000. The problem got fixed accidentally after the dealer was doing some other work and ran into a problem with hot battery cable. Once it was replaced all seemed to work well. Might be worth a try.

I had a similar experience with my 3320. The tach would do the self test when I would power it with the key (supposed to go to max rmp and than back to zero) but would get stuck at about 1500 rpm. If you do a search there was a service bulletin or such for my model maybe yours as well. The dealer came out to my house and fixed it under warranty. Had to replace the whole instrument cluster. HTH
