I didn't know John Deere made 435D w/a blower, and happen to stumble /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif upon one by a sugar shack in which the owner was stacking sugar wood for next spring.

Owner stated heavy snow and mud thats when it really shines.

Thomas, I don't see a blower/w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif

I enjoy your pics of old iron. Where do you find these tractors??? You're like a bloodhound. How often do you replace the batteries on your dig camera?/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

I didn't either/wasn't sure. I thought it might be the round thing at the front, with the "GM" label on it.

I believe the second photo of the blower but you got look close...I try to get closer to take a better photo, but the BIG oxen /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif just wouldn't move.

Why we find these old tractors...never know when were out for a putt on the m/c etc..and 99% of the times the owner's are thrill to have one to stop and talk snap some photos.

Batteries..yikes..around 30 pictures to a change..I'm keeping the E-Bunny happy. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

The "blower" is the supercharger. Looks like that old JD has a "Screamin' Jimmy" Detroit Diesel. I have seen old tractors from a few other manufacturers that used the Detroit but never a JD before./w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif I wonder if ear plugs came as standard equipment with that model?/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

For a good part of my adult life, I thought a "blown Chevy" was an engine that had been blown up at least once /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

Yep I'd say it was equipped with a supercharged Detroit 471 silver industrial engine. Also quite common in work boats built during the 60's and 70's.

Are you sure that is a 4-71? I thought I read that JD used the 2-53.
