Hi

I am currently down to evaluating a JD4110 and a Kubota B7550.

I plan on using the tractor for hauling manure, plowing my driveway in the winter. harrowing 5 acres and pulling a manure spreader.

I've looked at both models and they are both nice machines. The price is pretty well the same for both of them, so thats not a differentiator.

Both the dealerships look good and I felt comfortable when I was talking to both of them.

I'm going back to test drive the tractors (I'm taking my wife with me since she has already claimed ownership of any tractor we buy /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif ) and ask more detailed questions. But I wouldn't mind getting some opinions about the differences between the two machines that might help in making a decision.

Are both machines really the same in capability and quality? Or are there some defining machines that make one machine a better choice than the other?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Garick

Close enough, I'll bet.

Yep, the one that feels best to you, or maybe I should say the one that feels best to your wife. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

We went and looked at the Kubota B7500 and my wife test drove it. She thought it was easy to drive and responsive. She especially liked the power steering and she got a kick out of the front end loader.

There was a B2410 there as well which is the model up from the B7500. She test drove that one as well. She liked that one even more, her response, she felt it had more power, but she still felt that it was easy to drive.

I think the salesman thought I was a bit wierd when I said the final decision on whether I get a JD or Kubota would rest on how my wife felt about driving the tractors, but we was pretty good about it, giving my wife all the pointers about the tractor and explaining how it worked.

We went to the JD dealer to test drive the 4110, but unfortunately, they didn't have any of thr 4000 series on the lot. We will have to wait a few weeks before we can check out the 4110.

Thanks for all of the help. I'll give an udpate when we (I mean my wife /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif ) test drives the 4110.

Garick,
The Deere website actually has a comparison of the B7500 and the 4110. I have attached a .pdf file of that comparison. As you can see, the specs are very close. I got the B7500 because I needed a BH and they don't recommend a BH for the 4110. So, for me that was a major tie breaker. If you ever think you might need a BH, that should be a consideration. Otherwise, they are very similar. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the comparison chart Greg. It will aid me in my decision making process.

Interesting that you mention the backhoe. The B7500 we test drove had a backhoe attached to it. I was quite surprised to see a tractor of that size with a backhoe (of course, I'm not exactly a fountain of tractor experience either).

According to the salesman, it can dig a hole of about 7 feet deep with the backhoe.

I checked my JD documentation when I got home and found that the JD4110 can't use a backhoe. My first thought was why not, both tractors seem to be about the same size.

Out of curiousity, how well does the backhoe work with the B7500?

Garick,
I should probably start by saying that I am a "weekend warrior" and had no experience with tractors or backhoes when I bought, so my experiences are limited to what I have done with my B7500. However, I have been amazed at not only what the BH can do, but also with all the little projects that I use it on. I recently wrote a post "Backhoes aren't just for digging" and showed some pics and stories about some of the different things I was able to do with the BH. Right now I am digging stumps with it, and with a little patience I am breaking all the roots without a saw. Last night I broke a root about 4" in diameter, by just working it with the bucket teeth. Another post I did regarding stumps was was "B7500 vs. stump", if you are interested in seeing what a B7500 can do. For me, this tractor has done everything I have wanted, and then some. I am sure that the JD 4110 is capable of everything the B7500 is. In fact I see that is actually has about 100lbs. more lift at the 3pt.. But, I really like my BH and it has added a whole new dimension to what these machines can do for me. However, my application might be different from yours. Actually I am going out right now to work on more stumps. I'll take a picture and post it here in a few minutes.

Garick,
Here is a pic of one of the large roots that I broke yesterday, right next to the wheel.

Garick,
Here is a pic of the overall project. There are actually 6 trees combined into the one rootball. This is going to be a nasty job, but I'm a stubborn Swede and I don't give up easy. I am sure I will have to break up the root balls eventually. I have used a pressure washer before to clean up root balls before using a chain saw. I will dig a ramp with the loader to get under it to make it easier to work on. Hope this info helps.
