Lots of feedback on snow removal and what seems best. I also prefer a front mounted blade versus a blower because of the gravel and rocks on my laneway. Curiously the front blade on my JD 750 does not have any downpressure because of the length of the hydraulic cylinder. It "just" stays off the ground when fully extended. The 2 shoes offer little use. Is there a reason why this original JD375 does not touch the ground. Should I drill another hole in the mounting bracket to lower the blade which in turn will utilize the shoes and afford me some downpressure when desired. BTW I mounted a 3PH blower on the back for those times when the snow is just too deep but only skim the ground so rocks don't get caught up in the auger. Thanks for any feedback.

I am not sure what is going on with your blade, but it should have down pressure. As a matter of fact, it should have enough travel to raise your front wheels off the ground a few inches. It sounds like something may not be assembled properly or maybe an incorrect cylinder with too short of a stroke is installed.
