For a while I was set on the JD2210 but as I've been working on the price quotes I'm surprised the 2210 costs so much more. A BX2230 with FEL, 54" mower, bagger delivered is $14K. The 2210 with FEL, 54" mower, and bagger (they fit the X595 bagger) is $17K. I understand the 2210 has 50% greater FEL capabilities but what else am I missing? The position of the FEL joystick is better positioned on the 2210 vs. the goofy placement for the BX. (At least is looks goofy when the FEL is not attached!) But on the flip side the PTO driven bagger for the BX is much better than the belt driven version on the 2210.

Well I don't know much about the JD line but from what I can tell from your profile the BX will handle what you wish to accomplish quite nicely. Mowing a half acre is well under an hour's work and you don't mention anything that would require the extra capacity rating of the JD. So if it helps you I think either tractor will do the job, your call on the extra $3000! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Wow! Those prices in NH are HIGH! You'd do better coming down to CT and purchasing a Deere -- even with our sales tax you would save some $$$. As for the tractors, I can't speak for the Kubota, but I am very happy with my 2210. I don't use a bagger, and don't find I need to. I do however recommend the 62" deck due to the overlap it gives. Have you tried out both machines? Ergonomics was an important issue to me, after that, the dealer was the next most important factor.

Happy hunting

You really think the JD 2210 quote is high? The bagger costs $1500 so the tractor, FEL, mower would be $15,500 which I thought was similiar to other quotes I saw.

Unfortunately I need the smaller deck to be able to drive to my grass clipping pile in the woods.

WilliamWallace; I'll admit my bias. I have a BX. Having said that, if I ever decide to buy another sub-CUT, the decision will be price and dealer driven. I don't believe any of the models (Case, New Holland, Kubota, MF, JD) are worth much more $ than another.

I hear Ya About this. Before I go On I must state that I am Kubota Biased also.

The year before I bought My BX-23 I looked at the BX-22. I believe that the loader control valve and lever, used to stay attached to the loader when you removed it. In fact it was a selling point in the sales material. Now the loader control stays on the tractor when you remove the loader.

I think they did this so you can use the valve to operate other attachments Snow blower, plow etc. With the old set up you had to remove the valve from the loader and install it on the tractor. in order to use it for other attachments.

The loader control placement seems very comfortable when operating the tractor. I don't mow with mine but I don't think it would be in the way.

All I can say is to try out each tractor as much as you can before you spend your $.

I have been very happy with my decision.

I don't think the 2210 has 50% greater capacity than the BX2230. I think the 2210 is rated 600 lbs at the pivot pins, while the BX is rated 470 lbs in the center of the bucket. In Kubota's documentation the LA210/LA211 loaders are also rated 600 lbs at the pivot pins.

William

I was in your position a few months ago. I wanted a JD 2210 also and only found a few bad points about it. The number one issue was the price. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I just didn't think the JD was worth the premium over the Kubota. I bought a BX2230 with a Woods FEL and BH. The JD2210 is dimensionally slightly larger than than BX2230 but it just didn't feel as good to me when I rode both.

Not sure about the FEL control issue, I like to have the lever within easy reach of my right hand. Pretty much the same location on both tractors. The larger capabilities of the 2210 FEL was not an issue since the 600# FEL from Woods was more than enough.

You'll be happy with either but for me the Kubota was a better value.

Personally I'm partial to green tractors /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif(2003 4710 460 FEL, 48 BH) but when I was buying my wife a new lawn mower last year she liked the BX2230. I wanted the green one but when I priced them the BX2230 was substantially less money.

That was just the base tractor too. I didn't want any front end hydraulics since I already have all that so I priced the Kubota without it. When I priced the 2210 I couldn't even get one without it.

I paid $9999.00 for a 2004 BX2230 with 60" MMM. I got that price from 2 nearby dealers so I went with the closest location.

This is a mowing machine. We've got a lot of hill side and the BX has a low center of gravity and has all the power it needs to run that 60" mower deck. That with the 4WD makes it a perfect tractor for the little woman! Soemtimes we argue about who's going to cut the grass. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

And it works like a charm!!! I have a BX2200 and find the controller to be perfect. It takes little effort to pull 2 pins and move it from the loader back to the tractor for snowblower service. During the summer, you can leave it there but it makes it more difficult to hop on from the right side- I prefer it out of the way- hooked to the FEL.

One of several things that were not 'improved' on the 23/2230 series in my opinion.
