I have been looking to buy a JD 2210 for my 6 acres. I have priced it locally with the 62 inch deck for $11,500. Is this a good price? However, today I found a 4410 with 5 hours on it for $16,500.00. It has rear and mid PTO, eHydro, Folding ROPS, Dual Mid Selective Value. I am wondering if this price is a super deal or just around the cost of the same machine new.

If the 4410 has a FEL on its a great buy by my standards but that doesnt make it a great machine for your needs. I dont think they make a belly mower for that and in spite of popular belief bigger is not always better. Haveing said that if you want to spend 16k for a tractor and FEL my first thought in the JD line up is a 4115. You stay in the small frame plus you stay away from the electronics. Should be under 16k new with FEL tax and delivery. If you dont want the FEL I would certainly not see the desire for a 4410. I paid 9500 for the 2210 and 2000 for the fel. I think the mower deck is around 1k. Theese prices do not include tax. Dave

5 hours on it IS new.
4410 has a belly mower available. Thats what the mid PTO is for.
I wouldn't give up the electronics on mine for just about anything.
I paid ~$17K for my 4310 w/430 loader, without the mid pto.

So if that 4410 has a loader, its a steal, without, why not get some more bids, on say a 4310?

Bigger isn't ALWAYS better, but it usually is. But, with 6 acres, you would not go wrong with whichever you like.

In my area 16,500 is the going price for a 4410 with the same options you mentioned. I would opt for a larger machine because you will always find uses for the extra power at least I have. The 4410 will handle a 60 inch deck great much better than a 2210 can. If you really want to get your mowing done fast I would get the 72 inch. The 4410 is not that big of a machine anyway. You can still get around trees because they have a short turning radius. Good luck with what ever option you choose!

The 4410 is over double the weight of a 2210 so I guess by that comparison it seems HUGE. It just seems a very odd comparison in models. The mid pto might have other uses as well, like a snow blower. It seems like gross overkill to me on 6 acres but I guess youd be the fastest mower around. I have talked to a lot of people with that model but I dont recall anyone that used a belly mower. go figure. Dave

Sorry, have to chime in here. The 2210 that I have handles the 62" deck great. I would think the 60" MMM on the 4410 would not work as well for the fact it would not stick out the sides as much as the smaller 2210.
Now the 72" is another story.

Both are very nice machines, but, each one shines in different areas!

Thanks for all of your comments. I think I'll still get the 2210 as it fits my needs better. The 4410 in advertised in the local classifieds and I didn't know if the price was a steal or just about the same as I could get it from a dealer. It is for the tractor only and does not include mower deck or FEL.

I remember reading a post one time that suggested a used tractor on the first year of warranty is usually only marked down 3 to 5 dollars per hour at the reatail level. If you want to get a idea of what the FEL on a 2210 can do look for hambones pond photos or my post on the little tractor that wanted to be biggger. I removed 6 " maple stumps. Not as fast, not as easy but still got the job done. Dave

I never said it worked bad on a 2210 but in the thick stuff my old 4300 boged down somewhat with the 60 inch 7 iron deck. The 2210 would surely bog down if a 4300 was. You are very right about having the deck stick out very little from the tractor. It was hard to mow around trees and the 60'' was not big enough for my needs. You 2210 owners seem to be very pleased with these machines. The only time I got to run one was when I had to clean it and it is a very well built machine for the money. A much better deal than getting a X595 for the same price.

The X series is really a different animal. Its primarly a mower with the ability to do some other work. Its perfect for those who live in suburban areas and dont want a machine that weighs too much or has a rops. Its really for a niche market. So its hard to say in a blanket statement one is a better value than the other. If you can use the 2210 its a better value but when I bought mine their was no bagging system available on the 2210. A important feature for many. Dave
