hi, i dont ask often but im in a bind for info. i have a 1982 jd214 and with a snowblower, once this winter it threw the oil out the filler tube, and a higher rev,s when snowblowing the throttle wants to idle back and seems like the carb is building up fuel as it blws blac smoke, if i idle down then up its ok for a few minutes , then starts doing it all over again, , ihave not checked compression as it is 40 below up here, but im thinking, dirt maybe in carb, i did the carb a cuple years ago, use a bit of oil each use.?? help

Check the oil level. Mine did this once. Float was stuck and gas was leaking into the crankcase. Oil level was very high because it was full of gas. Good candidate for a fire.

wil do as soon as it warms up a bit, i did check the oil it was not over the full mark, but im thinking maybe the float or needle valve sticking?

warmed up a bit here, i went snow blowing, dear john started fine, i also forgot to say before that i had tied the dipstick down, it ran really well , but when i got back the engine compartment and cowls were covered in oil, oil was on the add mark, but it ran so well, is there somethinglike vacum or whatever that is causing this, crankcase problem or motor shot???

Worn piston rings will allow pressurizing the crankcase especially so in cold winter use at higher rpms. It will push oil out and the oil filler is one of those places. The other separate but simultaneous problem you have is a carb float valve sticking. Your carb is flooding with so much fuel it is cutting the engine out. I'd say that ethanol has also partially blocked the jets and orifices in your carb too. You can see how much by running at mid throttle or better and then pulling the choke on a bit................. if the engine runs smoother and or increases in rpm then your carb is gunked up too ie beyond the old float valve. You've got multiple problems but just to get thru the winter replace that float valve...................... at the least run "carb cleaner" in your fuel tank. It may unstick or enable the float valve to work better. Keep track of the "oil level". Be alert to the oil getting thin.................

Think spring.
