I've got about 75hrs on my 110 and everything has been workin' good. But... I took my root grapple off (everything A-OK) and then later, when I went to re-hook the grapple up the front skid-steer hydraulic couplers won't pressure down enough to engage the couplers.

Talked to the shop foreman at my local dealer and he said that that sort of thing happens more or less routinely with the SS couplers on the Bobcat's they sell and the JD's.

He said I should just click and click the rocker switch back and forth 50 times or more until it drops pressure enough to hook the quick couplers up. Well, I did that and it's still harder than a rock wall!!

Any advise or experiences with this problem and a solution? Thanks in advance for your comments.

If you did that with the key switch on then the proplem may be int he implement. It's a simple and messy fix. Get a rag and a couple wrenches, loosen the a coupler jsu t a little and keep the rag around the coupler to keep you from getting prayed and remember that there is alot of pressure in the lines so don't back it off all the way. Be patient an when it starts dripping use your judgement and don't take it too far so the coupler will shoot of the end. Once pressure is bled tighten coupler and your backin business. Our ASV track loaders have electric vales and they put a mechaninal relief on the block that holds the couplers. You just push a poppet valve with your thumb and pressure gets released to a case drain line. good luck

One cause may be the way JD does the electric valves. On the diverter valve on my 4520 the solenoid actuates a very small pilot valve that then does the main valve. So, no hyd pressure, no pilot, no function. I have to two step frequently. Figure out which coupling is whiach way, then depressure that coupling while everything is on. Hook-unhook then run the valve the other way and do that one.

Again don't know if that is the specific issue but..
Have fun

It also may be the lines from the implement are still under pressure. I have both males on the implement and females on the tractor. I relieve the pressure off the tractor side when I take the grapple off. If I still have trouble reconnecting (rarely) I just pop the ball on the end of the male connector on the grapple side against a hard clean portion of the grapple to take any pressure off the hose. Has always done the trick.

Shotgun - yup, I've been turnin' the switch on (ignition) and I've been goin' from front to rear SCV's. And of course, toggle between the left and right line - No change.

I was hopin' to NOT have to crack the end of the hyd line and have fluid everywhere!

If I understand what Tom said; he's doin' what you recommended; crack the line at the coupler to bleed off the pressure (and fluid) until you can connect the coupler's.

yekrut -- I thought that might be the problem, too. The grapple has a male and female connectors. I can hook them together in a closed loop; so, the grapple is OK.

Tom; the 110 most likely has interchangeable parts in common with your 4520. It wouldn't surprise me at all that the diverter on your tractor is the same part number as my 110!!

I can hear the diverter click on and then the main SCV body will clunk and route pressure to either the front or back of the machine (3 SCV's at rear). But, those front couplers just won't give it up... And, they've been workin' just fine.

One thing I haven't tried -- the front aux. couplers (on FEL) share the same hyd. loop with the top rear SCV. I'll hook a cylinder to the top rear SCV and work it and then switch the diverter back and forth -- front to back. Might shake somethin' loose!

Thanks again.

Tom -- reread your post and I guess I don't "really" understand what you did to get the couplers to "de-pressurize".

Maybe you can clarify.. thanks.

I do what yekrut does for male connectors and push in the ball valve on female connectors by tapping a clean wood dowel against it with a hammer.

That would work but unfortunetly he has flatfaced couplers. The only way I've found is to loosen them on the hose.
