JD 1025R
Members, I have a question looking for thought grenades on an offer that I have from a JD dealer for a 2017 1025R with zero hours. Package is listed below:

2017 JOHN DEERE 1025R SubCompact Utility Tractor (18 PTO hp) $12,540.00
2019 JOHN DEERE 60D 7-Iron Mid Mount Side Discharge Mower $ 2,360.00
2017 JOHN DEERE H120 Loader $ 2,900.00
2018 Frontier 4*" Rotary Cutter $ 1,700.00
2018 Frontier 48" BOX BLADE $ 800.00
Total Including Liquid in tires, and other prep/delivery (less taxes) $ 20,300.00

My thought is I should counter offer it at either $19,000.00 flat plus taxes or $20,000.00 but receive 2 years of their service plan which they value at $999.00.

I also have an offer from MF dealership for a 2018 GC1715 Tractor Loader combo
GC1715 with FEL $14,700.00
MF2326 Mower 60" Belly Mower $ 2,400.00
Woods Rotary Cutter 48" Model RC 4 $ 1,300.00
Woods Model GBC48 Box Scraper 48” $ 960.00

Total Package Retail Price $ 19,360.00
Total Discounts
Woods Multi Implement Rebate$ (300.00)
Cash Discount$ (2,620.00)
Total Package Proposal $16,440.00

My thought is I should counter offer it at either $15,500.00 flat plus taxes or $16,000.00 but receive 2 years of their service plan which they value at $599.00.

Thoughts?

From what I've read, most JD dealers don't dicker. It's 'take our offer or leave it'.

For what it's worth, my LS MT125 came in around $18K with FEL, BH, 60" MMM and 48" tiller. Without the BH, I could have added the others you listed and been priced under $16K probably.

Diggin It, how do you like your MT125? While I am talking with JD and MF, I did go look at at LS yesterday, first time to ever sit on one, just learning about them. They certainly come in on the lower end of the cost spectrum. Are they the Hyundai of tractors, or are they the Yugo of tractors?

Must depend on where you are. Around here you can get 10% off all the time, maybe more when they want to move them.

I just bought a new 2017 1025R with zero hours about a month ago. 120R loader and 260B backhoe. $18,800 + sales tax. That included a $200 discount for paying cash.

Never hurts to counter....the worst that can happen is they say no.

More importantly, IMO, is to get the rig you like the best, with the dealer you're most happy with. Saving a couple K won't matter if you're not happy in two weeks. ;)

I also have the MT125 and absolutely love it. I, IMHO, would consider it more of a 'Nissan' of the tractor world. When I was comparing/ shopping, I looked at JD, Kub, Mahindra, and Massey. The LS won out big time. Plus, I can get maintanance parts (filters) or general parts at the LS dealer or New Holland dealer. The cost of my LS was much, much lower than the first 3 brands (by as much as $6K), Massey being the closest in price, but still $1K more. You need to buy what you like, and what you are comfortable with.

What makes the Deere worth 3-4K more to you than the MF?

The price on the MF is close to cash offers I致e been presented in the past on a 1720

The cash price on the Deere is closer to their MSRP than a 都treet price. Personally- Go with what you like best at the price your comfortable with. Expecting to haggle on the MF isn稚 likely to gain much - on the Deere, just find a more up front dealer.

Many other brands out there - I myself would pay more for Deere, but no where near the difference quoted. 2 year service agreement is a profit center - what痴 a maintenance kit on the Deere - 150 bucks? So your giving a grand for 2 of those and the labor...

I would walk into the JD dealer and tell them to match the price of the Massey! Knowing thier answer the next step would be to walk into the Massey dealer and say Sold, I brought my trailer with me can you load it up?

Not one for a service plan, but I would definitely try to have them include at sale time everything that would be needed for the expected service in the two year time frame.

I say counter the one you like most first and move on to the second one if you like it enough to buy it..

Hey Clemsontractor,
Lol... Your post ended up costing me a lot of money.
I took the advice of several of the comments here. I called my Deere dealer this morning and told him I was on the fence and getting ready to buy a Kubota and would give him one last chance. I told him what the price was for Kubota. He came down $1000.00. Sooo... I bought a 1025R.
Price... Tractor, loader and 54" mmm, $16,000. Going to finance it for 0%/60mos., Insurance through them is $3.46/mos. (I need to evaluate the coverage)...
Hope this helps you as well.

Purchase made, tractor delivered yesterday. I purchased the 1025R with FEL, MMM, RC, BC, and i-Match quick hitch. My wife was out driving it around last night cutting the back part of the property with one of the largest smiles you can imagine. I did realize that my ignorance got the best of me, because while I had them put fluid in the rear tires, I failed to purchase additional weights and/or a ballast box. Guess that will be the first part of my "grows" pains. Ha ha. All in all I was able to get the entire package at about 24% below MSRP.

Cheers

Pics or it didn't happen

The boxblade will make a great counter weight with loaded rear tires.

Excellent idea. That should at least get me through the weekend of things to do. Now any suggestions on how to modify a bush hog box blade to work with the i-Match quick hitch?
