The plug, part number M810730, is leaking and I am inquiring on the procedure to replace the plug. I have the JD Technical Manual, but this is shown but not referenced. In advance, I would appreciate any direction provided.
OldnSlow! Thank you for your follow up. I have attached the JD parts scheme. There is a front and back plug, and both have a pliable rubber type cover. According to the JD scheme, the overflow valve is the only thing between these two plugs. Again, thank you for your follow up, I have search through an untold number of web sites to find the replacement process.

In looking at the JD parts break down for the X749 it appears the axles are similar in design. All the X749 service manual says is to knock it out from the inside and then press in the new one during assembly. Not sure if you could just run a couple of sheet metal screws thru the old plug and use them to pull it out or not. From the parts diagram it unclear how much "dead " space is behind this plug. Sorry never had one apart to look at the innards.
