JD X300 Deck Height

I am curious, my JD X300 deck height adjusting knob recommends the deck height be set to 2.75 for this particular mower. Why this particular setting for this mower ? I have mine set at 2.5. Just wondering why JD recommends that height for this mower.

Likely it is the height to make the deck linkage adjustments, then after that you can change the height to what you want to cut your grass. It will raise or lower from that adjusted position of 2.75.
Don't think they are suggesting you mow your grass at 2.75", but I could be wrong.

Oh okay, I never looked at it that way. I’ve been mowing at that height forever and decided to lower it one setting and my yard looks better. Your response makes sense, thanks for the input.
