1999 JD 4300 HST
Hey, this is my first post here! I guess I didn't realize how large this site really is!! I have a JD 4300, and am tired of the phone calls to the dealer about the axle, hydro, 3rd scv, etc... I think I may have talked myself into getting a Kubota? My 4300 is almost 2 years old, and before I go out of warranty, I may trade. I do need everyone's help. Does anyone have a 3010 or 3410 that they have recently purchased and may have owned a JD 4xxx series or maybe a NH Boomer before? I want real feedback on how you like the hydro, loader operation/installation/removal, engine quietness, seat comfort, and other observations. I need to know the good and the bad. This is one of those decisions that is going to be hard. Some postings give me the impression that the 3010/3410 is better than any tractor on the market, but those owners may have never owned a competetive brand and are just tooting the horn for the heck of it. I can see this site is geared more to the Kubota owners and hope I can get the answers I need. I would be installing the Kubota loader w/HD 60" bucket, and the 72" belly mower w/turf tires. Prices may be helpful as I only have one Kub dealer near me and I don't want to feel gouged when he bids me out. Thanx everyone!!!!:)

It's not that it's geared (or is that now hydroed/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif) towards Kubotas it's just that Muhammad, the brains in the background that keeps this thing operating, ran a Kubota site before I think, and we all drifted here. I've done my best in my travels to hand out this site info to any small tractor owner I meet. I see great points in ALL the tractors. I like the pedals on the JD 4000 series, and my initial thought on this has been proven by my use of a JD Garden tractor that's in the garage since I can't get the wife to get off the BX long enough to put the deck on it! The NH Supersteer option also looks great as does the overall "fit" of my bod on the NH (TC? I think).

I had a particular requirement/love of the loader, backhoe and the way they operate and are connected to the tractor, and the Kubota L35 was the only thing that caught my fancy. Same with the BX. That being said, this JD lawn & garden "tractor" seems well put together. My 17 year old Ford NH was also wonderful, has never let me down, and served above and beyond the call.

Sit on em all, drive em, kick the tires, let the adventure begin! Now that you've had one you're in a heck of a lot better position then we all were with our first tractor! Now you know what you like and don't like. The sales person probably won't be able to talk over your head much and you'll find yourself thinking (What the heck are they talking about!!! That's not the way it is!) /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Well THS you are not the first to go thru this situation. I will only say this, Kubota is tried and proven. It is
a stable company. The machines may not have the best ergonomics but are good machines. Not to say that some of the others are not good. NH has been passed around by different owners like a bowl of potatoes. JD has changed designs and man. partners and we can read the situation. Try them all . My final decision was Kubota because they fit my needs and fit my physical size well. Also they are tough and consistent, not perfect. Just my 2 cents!!

THS- Pull up the Carver Equipment site from the banner below. They give specs and prices on most of the Kubota line. If you are considering a long distance purchase, many have posted positive comments about Steve Carver's dealership. Good luck on your hunt and keep us posted.

Many of us did not have a Kubota the first time, but we do now. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif The Kubota tractors come with almost everything on them standard and very few options.

This afternoon, I went to the dealer to drive a 3010. The only hydro they had was a used one but had a part borrowed off of it rendering it undriveable. But they had a cab equipped 4610 that I drove instead. VERY NICE! The hydro was as strong as any I have ever driven! Cab was also very quiet. I really wanted to drive one that was more my speed and $$ but not for a couple of weeks until another one gets in. It seemed like a pretty solid tractor, rode pretty good with a fast road speed. I really do want to drive a 3010 or 3410 soon.

THS, sorry I cant help you with a review of the Kubota models your intrested in, however I just went through the shopping experience my self and I looked at JD, NH ,Massey and Kubota and after some serious comparisons I went with the Kubota mainly because I felt I was geting more for my money. I must admit I liked the operator position on the New Holland TC the best due to the downslope of the hood.
What I liked hearing least is "oh thats an additional charge option"
It is tough with all the different opinions of each brand and I think it really boils down to is what you feel is best for your needs and likes...the shopping is fun and a great learning experience.

Yes, but don't you wish you had tons of money, property spread out all over everywhere and the justification to keep a blue one on that piece of property, a green one there, an orange one here and a red one there?

How does the saying go?...Variety is the spice of life!
