Good morning

I'm out of town and looking for areas to start when I get home and have a chance to look at the mower. My nephew called, saying the riding mower won't start after being shut off to empty the bags.
If it sits for an hour and cools off it starts up. I recently changed the plugs, air filters, oil and oil filter. I don't think it is the seat sensor since it starts when cool. The gas is fresh.
Thank you for any suggestions.

Only a long shot....On my old Oliver the gas line was getting so hot that the gas was **vaporising** before getting to the carb......so check if your gas line is too near a **hot spot** you never know... good luck.

There is an electric fuel shut off valve on the lower inside edge of the carb that may have a loose connection, this was erratic and intermittent on mine.

Problem sounds like ignition coil to me. Next time it gets hot, shuts off, and won't start, pull the spark plug and check the fire. No spark, I would go ahead and replace the coil. After cooling, a bad coil will begin to fire again until it's too hot and shut down again. Wouldn't be an uncommon issue for a mower the age of a L130.

If it comes to the coil, it's not too bad to replace. About 8-10 screws and the top cowling of the engine comes off. Sometimes there's a cardboard spacer in the box that you use to set the air gap between the coil and flywheel. If not, check with the dealer to see what the proper air gap is and set it.

Good luck!!

On thing about the L series is they were finicky about the fuel cap vent. I fixed a few, including my own just by cleaning out the vent.

Is he choking it... like you would when starting cold? You would not choke it to start a hot engine.. on the other hand if the engine had not yet reached operating temperature you may still need to choke that warm engine

I'll add mine to the pot: Make sure its getting gas. Check the fuel lines. Mine just would not start. I disconnected the fuel line and checked the filter and blew air back into the gas tank through the line. It started right up.
Keep us posted.
