When I cracked open the tranny on my L130 the first thing i noted was the color of the oil...black with lots of various sized metal pieces(dust to popcorn size). I cleaned the housing of oil metal pieces but did not remove the pump side of the tranny.
The differential gears is what wore out and subsequently failed on the K46AC.
I decided to first try my cheapest repair option.... replaced the differential gears($25) and changed the filter($11). Added 2.3L of 5W50 synthetic oil($20) and reassembled the unit and installed it on the L130.
Fired it up to start the air purging procedure that Tuff Torq recommends but the transaxle just started working...completed the procedure anyway.
We have now 4 hours of cutting on it...climbing hills, pulling carts appear to be better than when we first purchased the L130.
The folks at Tuff Torq have a great web site and their customer service is better than most. However it appears that their parts business is setup as a big margin contributor for the business. Their repair kit at $374 and replacement tranny at $682 are way over priced.
Thanks again to all the members that gave me the courage/info to attempt the repair!!!
