John Deere L111 lawn tractor
I posted this in the another place,it might have been wrong area. First off, hi, I am a newbie, never posted a question anywhere before. I have a John Deere L111 with mower deck and snow blade.I took off the mower deck per operators maual to move some snow here in the northeast. It ran great first few times. Then it would quit running. I pumped out the fuel tank, thinking water in gas. There was.Cleaned lines, different filter, removed float bowl and cleaned,no idea what the 'thingy on bottom of bowl is with two wires going into it,anyway, more gas.got it running. Ran for a few minutes and quit after sitting it started, ran a few and quit. The longer it sat and waited the longer it would run before quitting.Do not know what to try next. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

The thing on the bottom of the float bowl is a anti backfire solenoid. It works off the key switch and shuts off the flow of fuel into the cylinder when you turn the key off thus preventing the bang when you shut the engine off. I would check for fuel flow from your tank if this is gravity fed system. Even though you changed the filter a lot of times there is a filter screen in the bottom of the tank that gets plugged up. Thus, your engine runs out of fuel, a little seeps through, tractor starts then it gets plugged up again.

I ran into the same problem on my L111 Changed the filter ,gas, etc. Called the dealer for help and she said to clean the vent hole in the gas cap. Perfect fix.

I had a similar problem. Like the dealer told Marty38, my uncle mentioned the vent hole in the gas cap. I might have picked up on it myself if I had noticed that it would run for awhile each time I opened the gas cap. When I finally did get around to checking the cap, yes, the vent hole was plugged. The other thing I hadn't noticed was that the vacuum the fuel draw had created had significantly collapsed the tank. Lesson learned and now I always check the cap before heading out.
